What is the nursery childhood program?
 Encouraging the child to depend on himself through daily activities, directly and indirectly.- Encouraging the child to mutual activities which will lead to strengthen the social relationships among children.
- The teacher shall be the example for the children by helping, loving & caring for him/her so that his abilities and interests grow day by day.

What are the nursery working hours?
The nursery opens its doors for all age categories all around the year, except for official holidays i.e Eid Al-Fitre holiday, National and liberation Days, Eid Al-Adha and the Profits birth (PBUH). We are at your service all over the year………….
Morning sessions ( summer & Winter):
Sat- Wed 7 am to 2:30 pm
Thursday 8 am to 1 pm
Evening Sessions:
5:00 to 9:00 pm
Note: 3:00 to 5:00 pm has to be arranged and paid for.
Ramadan Hours:
Sat- Wed 7:30 am to 2:00 pm
NO Thursday and evening sessions during Ramadan month
Every morning the child will be received by his teacher at 8 o'clock and handed to his mother everyday at home time. In the event the child's arrival to the nursery is before 7 o'clock, an assistant will be there to receive him/her. In case some other member will be pick up the child at home time, the nursery attendant shall be informed previously in person or by a phone call. In the event the parents want to take their children earlier, they shall inform the nursery attendant by a telephone call so that the child is prepared to leave. |

Is there a nursery graduation party for my child?
Yes. We prepare a graduating party in May of each year where all graduated children (Bumble Bees) participate in a play and sing Arabic and an English song and certificates will be distributed to them. Also, pictures are taken in that event. |

What are Marafi Bilingual Nursery library activities?
Activities are continuous and permanent…. They take care of the child's culture and aims at attracting a new number of readers to the reading world. The library contains a set of attractive story books including animated stories, social stories and fairy tales. In addition to the auditory stories, there are the visual phonetic ones.
The library includes as well, new books, references and encyclopedias that guide and orientate teachers and help them innovate new amusing exciting ways so that the instruction reaches the child's mind in a simple and interesting way.
The library performs a story reading hour presented in various & modern ways whereby new techniques are used and different places and timings are chosen in order to sustain the child's interest.
Thus this story hour can either be presented in the library in the traditional way whereby the teacher narrates it in a nice and simple way or a more sophisticated way through the computer that contains educational programs that are visually exciting, colored & phonetically played by characters loved by children such as Barney, Bob the Builder……..
In addition, this hour could be performed through television or video where the most recent educational, cultural and social themes are available.

Is there a nursery uniform?
Yes, In order to provide children and parents with comfort relieving them from preparing clothes every day for the children, the nursery administration decided to design a uniform composed of two pieces. In winter, a blue jacket a green shirt engraved by the nurse logo, a trouser and a blue tie. In summer: Short sleeves shirts engraved by the nursery logo, a blue short and tie. Shoes are preferred to be black and comfortable with white socks and can be bought from outside the nursery. The name of the child written on his materials is recommended. Jewelry and gold such as bracelets and necklaces are not allowed. Earrings shall be small. |

Is there a nap time?
Children take a 30 minute break minimum every day as per their group, as a time to relax. At this period, the child does not necessarily sleep. The main objective of this period is to have a rest. Hence, parents can send a cover or a sheet for the child to use at rest time.
As for the bed, the nursery provides it. Parents, who wish their children to take a nap at the siesta break, will have to inform the teacher. Nap time is in the nursery special bed room.
Can my child celebrate his/her birthday among his friends in the nursery?
Of course s/he can. Any parent can celebrate an occasion for their child in the nursery provided; the nursery administration is previously informed in order to prepare the necessary matters. Regarding the birthday cake, we prefer you would send pieces of cake instead of a big cake with sandwiches and tarts and symbolic gifts that the teacher will distribute to children at the end of the day and not at the birthday time in order to avoid the mess.

What are the meals provided at the nursery?
The nursery offers breakfast at 9 am and lunch at 12 noon. Meals contain complete nutrients such carbohydrates, proteins, calcium & vitamins. See the menu at reception.
Regarding the snack, parents can send snacks with their children everyday in a small lunch box. Cheese or egg sandwiches can be sent with the child. Chocolates, sweets, candies & acid drinks are not allowed in the nursery. Parents and children understanding of this matter is really important. Each class teacher will assist the children during the meal times in order to take care of them and follow their behavior and guide them towards the good manners and etiquette.
What is the bond between the teacher, the child and his parents?
The relationship between the teacher, the child and his parents is considered tight and such a relationship is deemed important. It is one of our duties as an administration to afford the sufficient adequate time in view of improving and enhancing it through holding a parents meeting ever three months. We are here to answer any question parents have any concerns about. Parents can fix a n appointment with the secretary if they wish to talk to the teacher over the phone or they can send a letter with the child. It is our duty and we are pleased to undertake these tasks for your comfort and that of our children. |

What are the activities offered by the Nursery all over the year?
We offer various activities and we wish that parents participate and attend celebrations taking place in the nursery such as Gergaian, Hijri New year,t New Year, birthdays, family days and other occasions. Such participations help the child feel that someone is taking care of him/her and that s/he is achieving something important.
Hereinafter are some activities Marafi Bilingual Nursery offers to its children:
Montessori: the nursery offers Montessori classes supervised by a specialist who will give children different activities and encourage the child to count on himself/herself through play.
Trips and visits: The nursery will take its children to visit many entertainment and cultural places every month depending on the weather for learning, educational and entertainment purposes. The cost of trips varies from K.D 1.500 to K.D 3.500. The cost of the trip includes tickets, meals and bus rides. There are also some free trips and visits that are offered every now and then.
The nursery photographer shall be available on certain days to take photos of the children during their trips. Parents can buy the photos from the nursery.
Celebrations: they differ according to occasion: the child's birthday, Israa & Miraj, the Prophet's anniversary, the National day & the Liberation of Kuwait.
Away from routine: the nursery fixes special days for the child far from the daily routine in order to amuse the child and help him enjoy his time.
Sports day: where the child wears the special sport's outfit: a red T-shirt and white shorts. Outfit can be purchased from the nursery.
Hat day: where the child wears a hat to strut about and speak about it to his friends (Cow boy hat- the Red suit hat- the policeman hat)
Water day/Wet Day: where the children put their swimming suit and enjoy the cold water during the hot summer and bring their personal swimming stuff they wish to play with in water.
There are plenty more activities away from the routine at Marafi Bilingual Nursery, such as the green day, hair dressing day for girls, face painting, pet day, pajama day, cooking day and other days that are full of fun and amusement
What is the policy of attendance and absence in the nursery?
Unfortunately, some parents do not take the nursery phase seriously. Some of them bring their child for a month and don't for another which makes the child feel unstable and insecure. Besides all that, the effort that is made with the child since his/her first attendance will be repeated every time he returns after an absence which spreads chaos among children and distracts them, not to mention the psychological status of the child who will cry a lot every time he will join the nursery. In this respect, it is very important to be decisive about sending or not sending the child to the nursery. The perseverance in attending helps the child benefit from the hours he spend in the nursery. It is worth mentioning that the child needs 3 months at least before he interacts with the teacher and his friends in class. In the first period, he is a good listener.

How far is the nursery interested in my child's safety and health?
The administration watches over the safety & health of children as follows: a
- Showing children the right way to brush their teeth.
- Checking on the children's' nails every Saturday.
- Reporting any injury or sickness (if any) during the day to the parents by filling a special form.
- First aid for emergencies.
- Washing hands before and after meals.
- Encouraging the children to eat healthy food such as vegetables & fruits.
- Starting to potty train the child from the age of 2 years and three months with the help of the parents at home. Competent assistants will follow the child for this purpose and will take care of their hygiene.
- Requesting parents to provide the nursery with the latest vaccination reports for their children.
- No ill children are allowed to be in the nursery in order to avoid the spread of diseases.
What are the competences of the nursery staff?
Our staff is selected upon satisfaction of certain conditions, mainly the personality and competence. Teachers hold university degrees or diploma and are experienced in the child's care, education and teaching. Furthermore, they are fluent in English. Besides all that, they are trained locally in the nursery to be upon high standards to take care of children.

What is the monthly program of the nursery?
We offer to our lovely children a comprehensive and a varied program that fits the mind and age of the child. The program includes Arabic, English and Islamic Education. This methodology is based upon renovation and continuous experience and scientific concrete skills that develop the mental, physical, social and linguistic capacities of the child.
The program is based upon teaching the child through free play and learning through songs and rhymes. Also, children are encouraged to use the educational computer software, where the child interacts with the cartoon characters that display information on the computer monitor.
Another program is provided to the children in the nursery which is Introduction to the world where the child will be introduced to the world in a way that is compatible to his childish brain and simple thinking (transportation means, the sea, the human body, the 5 senses, agriculture, animals, shopping, vegetables, fruits, public institutions, and others).
Through this methodology, the child will learn by direct experience and factual observation he will witness in the regional trips and visits to sophisticated institutions for children. |

- The English Language: our nursery helps the child to learn English from English language speakers. The policy is not to use Arabic with the children in English classes in order to boost the children to speak English.
Children learn English letters and numbers. They are encouraged to trace numbers and letters they learnt linking them to names and figures. The teacher recites nursery songs and rhymes with the children at different times during the nursery day. The songs and rhymes are decided upon on a monthly basis so that the child learns them by heart. Conversation and fluency scheme is a daily program whereby the teacher talks and listens to children.
- The Arabic Language: the nursery emphasizes on teaching Arabic to children through introducing them to the Arabic alphabets in a simple and linking them to names and creatures using flashcards. During the day, children will learn Arabic songs (ANASHID) too.
- Islamic Education: (for Muslims only) the teacher of Islamic Education will teach short verses from the Quran, prayers & Azan in the nursery mosque.
- Calculation and numeration: by using concrete elements like small blocks to calculate, add and subtract.
- Sciences: the child will be introduced to science through simplified lessons on human body, land and sea animals, reptiles, senses, and a lot more
Arabic and English teachers in collaboration with the administration will set the program to be adopted including the aforementioned. The monthly program will be sent home with the child for the parents to be well informed of what their child will be doing during the month. It is also for better coordination between home and the nursery.
